SENATOR GIPSON’S STATEMENT ON RECENT NYS SETTLEMENTS
POUGHKEEPSIE, NY – New York State Senator Terry Gipson (D-Dutchess, Putnam) issued the following statement in response to Attorney General Eric Schneiderman’s recent settlements, including today's announcement of a multi-million dollar settlement from Bank of America for wrongful mortgage practices.
“I welcome the news that New York State is set to receive substantial revenue from the great work Attorney General Eric Schneiderman and his office has done to hold those who helped drive our economy into the ditch accountable. Since tax relief and job creation are my top priorities for continuing to move the Hudson Valley forward, I am committed to working to invest those available funds to increase aid to education, expand infrastructure investment and deliver substantial municipal property tax relief. After decades of reaching deep into their pockets, the taxpayers of New York deserve a break and we have a great opportunity to deliver for them."
