Senator Terry Gipson Commends Psc Decision to Delay Proposed Power Line Project

SENATOR TERRY GIPSON COMMENDS PSC DECISION TO DELAY PROPOSED POWER LINE PROJECT

POUGHKEEPSIE, NY – New York State Senator Terry Gipson (D-Dutchess, Putnam) today commended the Public Service Commission’s (PSC) decision to delay their case on the suggested power line project that would potentially impact the towns of Clinton, Hyde Park, Milan and Pleasant Valley.

“I commend the Governor’s office and the PSC for delaying this project in order to reevaluate the proposed power line plans,” said Senator Gipson. “The community and my office have been working hard to express our serious concerns about this issue, and I am pleased that our voices are being heard.”

In November, Senator Gipson issued an official request to the PSC urging further consideration of all proposals to ensure that residents’ and local communities’ voices are heard and questions answered. The PSC extended the public comment period on the proposals this December by 60 days, making the new deadline February 21, 2014. Earlier this month, Senator Gipson met with Governor Cuomo’s Office to further express his concerns over the proposed projects and his support for the Governor’s “no higher, no wider” proposal outlined in the 2014 State of the State address.

Senator Gipson concluded: “I remain committed to advocating on behalf of homeowners, business owners and community residents to ensure that voices are being heard and questions answered so that all viable options continue to be explored.”
