Senator Terry Gipson Hosts Advocates From the Anderson Center for Autism at State Capitol

SENATOR TERRY GIPSON HOSTS ADVOCATES FROM THE ANDERSON CENTER FOR AUTISM AT STATE CAPITOL

ALBANY, NY – New York State Senator Terry Gipson (D-Dutchess, Putnam) hosted a breakfast for parents, families, and staff members from the Anderson Center for Autism at the State Capitol for their 2014 Advocacy Day on February 11, 2014. During the event, Senator Gipson discussed the 2014/2015 State Budget as well as other legislation.

“I’m proud to welcome the Anderson Center for Autism to the Capitol today for such an important cause,” said Senator Gipson. “We are fortunate to have non-profit organizations, such as the Anderson Center for Autism, that deliver much needed services to individuals with developmental disabilities and their families in our community. I commend them for coming up to Albany and making their voices heard.”

“Our committed group of parents and loved ones known as the Anderson Family Partners look forward to this day,” said Neil Pollack, Executive Director of the Anderson Center for Autism. They share their stories, thank elected officials such as Senator Gipson for their support, and plead with others.”

The Anderson Center for Autism is located in Dutchess County in Staatsburg, New York. They provide education, support and outreach services for adults and children with Autism, and provide information aimed at delivering assistance and increasing overall autism awareness.

“The most powerful advocacy is a face to face discussion,” said Anderson Center for Autism board member and parent Jeanne Raichle.

Senator Gipson concluded, “Last year I worked with the Anderson Center for Autism, and the many important organizations in our community to restore crucial funding to the OPWDD and I look forward to continuing to work together to ensure that New York properly supports those with special needs and their families.”
