STATE SENATOR GIPSON APPLAUDS STATE FUNDING TO DUTCHESS COUNTY, CALLS FOR IMMEDIATE REFUND AND REPEAL OF ENERGY TAX

POUGHKEEPSIE, NY -- New York State Senator Terry Gipson (D-Dutchess, Putnam) issued the following statement on the proposed funding in the 2014/2015 New York State Budget that would allow Dutchess County to repeal their recently implemented county energy tax:

“It has been a hard winter, especially for the people of Dutchess County who have had to pay a misguided county energy tax since the beginning of March. In an effort to assist the county, my colleagues and I in the State Legislature who represent Dutchess County worked and succeeded to find ways to bring the county additional funding during the budget process.

"Now that the state legislature has secured relief for Dutchess County in the budget, I call on Dutchess County's government to not only repeal this unfair energy tax, but refund its residents for money already collected as well. The hard working families of Dutchess County deserve to have their money back in their pockets. I remain committed to working with my local and state colleagues to make our community a more affordable place to live and do business.”
