STATE SENATOR GIPSON’S STATEMENT ON FED'S HEROIN BUST IN DUTCHESS AND STATE’S EFFORTS TO COMBAT EPIDEMIC
ALBANY, NY – New York State Senator Terry Gipson (D-Dutchess, Putnam) today issued the following statement on the Federal Government’s bust of an alleged heroin ring in Dutchess County and the importance of the State Legislature and Governor Cuomo’s recent legislative efforts to combat the heroin epidemic in New York State.
“I commend all law enforcement and parties involved in the takedown of this alleged heroin ring in Dutchess County. This is continued proof of the serious need for New York State to do everything in our power to combat and end this deadly epidemic. It also highlights the importance of the recent legislative efforts of the State Senate, Assembly and Governor Cuomo that I have been proud to advocate for and support.
"In addition to tougher laws that target those selling heroin and opioids in our communities, we must continue to promote education and prevention while ensuring that our loved ones who are suffering from addiction receive the best possible care in order to save their lives. It’s imperative to the health and future of our families, our community and our state that we continue to fight this crisis, and I’m fully committed to doing so.”
