Albany, N.Y., June 20— State Senator Tom O’Mara (R,C-Big Flats) today released the following statement on the 2014 legislative session:
"There’s always more to do, but it’s been a session where we’ve worked together to stay focused on fundamental, practical, straightforward actions to cut taxes, create jobs, control state spending and protect public health and safety. I’m especially pleased that we’ve taken critical steps to respond to the heroin crisis. We’ve rolled back the implementation of Common Core in key ways. We worked to save the Elmira Psychiatric Center. We’ve paid attention to the upstate New York economy and upstate manufacturing in important ways, to the future of farming and to the quality of regional tourism. Overall, in my view, we’ve kept attention focused and made progress on the need for jobs, lower taxes, fewer regulations and stronger communities."
