(College Point, QUEENS) Last month, State Senator Tony Avella called on the City to take action against commercial businesses in College Point who had completely taken over the street and sidewalk with construction materials and other debris.

Today, Senator Avella announced that in response to the October press conference, the street and sidewalk at 124th Street and 28th Avenue have been cleaned up.

“After joining College Point residents and the 28th Avenue Block Association to take action in cleaning up these streets, it is great to finally see this long-standing issue resolved. While the Department of Sanitation had previously issued multiple summonses, it was simply not enough. After calling on the City to seize any materials or debris deposited on the streets and sidewalks, I am glad to see that this area has been completely cleared and pleased to note that the residents of this area can once again walk on their sidewalks,” said Senator Avella.

Senator Avella noted that monitoring will continue throughout the area.
