Statement by Senator Tony Avella on Formation of Congressional Quiet Skies Caucus
October 3, 2014
“For too long the residents of Queens have had to rely on the efforts of local officials to resolve what must be addressed on a federal level. While I am proud of the significant progress we have made, such as the development of the first aviation roundtable seeking to represent major New York City Metropolitan airports, there has been a strong need for the federal government to take a more aggressive role. I am glad to see these first steps being taken. However, the Quiet Skies Caucus can’t just be for show. Queens residents need real changes and that’s what we’ll be looking for as this Caucus progresses.”
