Senator Bill Larkin Secures Funding for Local Law Enforcement Agencies

Senator Bill Larkin (R-C, Cornwall-on-Hudson) announced that he has secured $343,500 in anti-crime and domestic violence prevention funding for seven local law enforcement agencies, the Orange County District Attorney’s Office, the Orange County Medical Examiner’s Office and the Newburgh Enlarged City School District. The funding will be used for a wide variety of initiatives including the purchase of police vehicles, safety equipment, laptops, equipment to assist with investigations, building cameras and to assist with domestic violence prosecutions.
“This funding will provide local law enforcement personnel with the tools necessary to protect our streets and make the Hudson Valley a safer place to live,” said Senator Larkin. “It will also allow the Newburgh Enlarged City School District and the Orange County Medical Examiner’s Office to purchase much-needed equipment and allow the Orange County District Attorney’s Office to dedicate an Assistant District Attorney to prosecute domestic violence cases,” said Larkin.
The following grantees will receive anti-crime or domestic violence prevention funding:
Newburgh Enlarged City School District $68,500
Orange County Medical Examiner $5,000
Orange County District Attorney $75,000
Town of Marlborough Police Department $25,000
Town of Haverstraw Police Department $20,000
Town of Stony Point Police Department $20,000
Town of Newburgh Police Department $20,000
Town of New Windsor Police Department $20,000
Town of Cornwall Police Department $15,000
City of Newburgh Police Department $75,000
The funding was secured in the 2014-2015 New York State Budget and will be administered by the NYS Division of Criminal Justice Services.
