A packed house at Inwood Academy for the housing forum on rent regulations. The expiration of these laws would have a devastating impact on our community but we simply cannot settle for their extension, these laws must be strengthened. In the last 4 years 35,000 rent regulated units have been lost, more than 200,000 have been lost in the last two decades. To stop this loss of affordable housing we need stronger rent laws that stop deregulation and massive rent increases which force tenants out of their homes.
