Free Narcan Training Provided With Help From Community Health Action of Staten Island & Hillel College of Staten Island
Senator Andrew Lanza, Assemblyman Mike Cusick and Hillel CSI are hosting an opiate overdose prevention event at the College of Staten Island at 3:00 p.m. on April 16th to teach Staten Island residents how to respond in the event of an opiate overdose.
Attendees will learn how to recognize an overdose, what to do and how to administer Narcan, a brand name for the medication naloxone, which reverses the effects of opioid overdoses. Upon completion of the course attendees will be certified to administer Narcan and will receive a free Narcan kit to bring home.
Opioid antidote programs have been credited with saving dozens of lives in New York. Supplies are limited and residents should contact Senator Lanza’s office or JCC DART in advance to RSVP (718-984-4073 / dburack@sijcc.com).
