Legislation sponsored by Senator Betty Little that would authorize out-of-state health care professionals to provide services for athletes competing in the IRONMAN Lake Placid event was approved today by the State Senate.
Approximately 1,500 athletes compete in the event.
The bill would allow licensed professionals, such as massage therapists, physical therapists, chiropractors and podiatrists, from other states and territories to provide services to competitors from July 22 through July 27, 2015. The health care professionals must be in good standing and be appointed by the World Triathlon Corporation.
The legislation is pending consideration by the Assembly where it is sponsored by Assemblyman Dan Stec.
This year’s IRONMAN Lake Placid will take place Sunday, July 26, 2015.
