NEW YORK - State Senator Brad Hoylman (D-Manhattan) said: “I applaud Governor Cuomo for his leadership in barring non-essential state-funded travel to Indiana in the aftermath of its discriminatory new law, which is an assault on basic civil rights for LGBT Americans everywhere. The Governor has sent a strong message that New York will not tolerate legalized discrimination against gays and lesbians.
"At the same time, I'm mindful that we have more work to do in Albany because transgender New Yorkers do not enjoy the same protections as the rest of us, and so I hope the outrage directed towards Indiana will also help spur new momentum on passing the Gender Expression Nondiscrimination Act."
