Senator Hoylman, Assembly Member Glick & Council Member Mendez Join Facebook to Announce Free Gift of Laptops to Hetrick-Martin Institute to Support At-Risk LGBTQ Youth

NEW YORK – State Senator Brad Hoylman (D-Manhattan), Assembly Member Deborah Glick and Council Member Rosie Mendez today joined representatives from Facebook at the Hetrick-Martin Institute (HMI) to announce that HMI’s afterschool program would receive a donation of laptop computers from the company facilitated by Senator Hoylman. Facebook’s New York City headquarters is located near HMI on Astor Place and is home to 1,000 employees. Below is Senator Hoylman’s statement in response:

”I hope this is the beginning of a long and fruitful relationship between Facebook and HMI and want to thank Facebook for this generous gift. I’m also grateful to my colleagues Assembly Member Glick and Council Member Mendez for their longtime support of HMI. Social networking is an important source of information and support for LGBT young people, so it makes sense that Facebook would partner with HMI, one of the nation’s premier providers for this community.”
