REDC Awards Will Bring Boost to the Region's Economy

“Jobs and economic opportunities will be the outcome of the state grant awards announced today. Our manufacturing, recreation, tourism and quality of life will be enhanced, and I salute my local people who worked so hard to develop these projects. It shows that by working together we can achieve great results,” said Senator Catharine Young.
Allegany County projects that received funding include:
· $1.5 million for the New Forest Economy project at Alfred State College;
· $40,950 for the Cuba Friends of Architecture;
· $900,000 for the villages of Bolivar and Richburg’s joint water improvement project; and
· $50,000 for the Village of Wellsville’s waterline project.
Cattaraugus County projects that received funding include:
· $920,000 for improvements to the William O. Smith Recreation Center;
· $345,000 for Olean Business Development Corporations’ downtown revitalization efforts;
· $100,000 for the Cattaraugus Community Action, Inc.’s Culinary Arts Training program;
· $50,000 for the County’s redevelopment efforts;
· $49,500 to enhance current arts, culture and heritage businesses and programs in the County;
· $27,750 to help the Cattaraugus County Arts Council expand programming;
· $160,000 for the City of Olean’s North 3rd Street Reconstruction Project; and
· $600,000 for upgrades to the Village of Little Valley’s wastewater treatment plant.
Chautauqua County projects that received funding include:
· $1,908,000 for the Chautauqua Harbor Destination Hotel in Celoron;
· $980,000 for a new Manufacturing Technology Institute at Jamestown Community College;
· $200,000 for expansion of the Chautauqua County South County Industrial Park;
· $500,000 for the renovation of 119-121 W. 3rd Street, the former W.T. Grant Department Store building in downtown Jamestown;
· $50,000 for the Northern Chautauqua County waterfront revitalization project;
· $275,888 for the West Dutch Hollow Creek Stabilization Project;
· $482,179 for the Dutch Hollow Creek Stabilization Project;
· $151,200 for the Bemus Creek Stabilization Project;
· $58,039 for the Prendergast Creek Stabilization Project;
· $66,174 for the Ball Creek Stabilization Project;
· $39,690 for the Goose Creek Stabilization Project;
· $81,000 for the Chautauqua Creek Restoration project;
· $167,250 for the Chautauqua County Soil and Water Conservation District’s Walnut and Silver Creek stream corridor restoration projects;
· $55,000 for the Chautauqua County Soil and Water Conservation District’s erosion control equipment and improvements at Chautauqua Lake;
· $27,000 for the Chautauqua Regional Youth Ballet;
· $176,000 for the Ellery Sno-Cruiser’s trail grooming equipment;
· $125,000 for the Fredonia Tech Incubator;
· $75,910 for Libera, Inc. for job training;
· $2,025,000 to support the development of the National Comedy Center;
· $30,000 for the North Chautauqua Lake Sewer District Engineering Study;
· $24,700 for the Reg Lenna Center for the Arts;
· $50,000 for an engineering study for the West Side Chautauqua Lake Sewer Extension project;
· $33,000 for Support Enterprises, Inc.’s joint workforce project with The Resource Center; and
· $200,000 for the Welch Trail Recreational Area project in Westfield.
