Lindquist turned 100 on March 18, 2015
ALBANY – “Always keeping busy” has been the life philosophy for Henry Lindquist, a Bolivar resident who turned 100 this past week. Repairing and restoring antique clocks and cars, woodworking and welding are just a few of the passions that have helped him live out this philosophy over the last century.
On Saturday, Senator Catharine Young (R,C,I- Olean) joined Mr. Lindquist, along with his friends and family, for a very special birthday celebration.
“Henry is most known to his family, friends and neighbors for his constant willingness to lend a hand to those in need. Surrounded by so many of his loved ones on Saturday, you could truly feel the remarkably positive imprint he’s left through a lifetime of hard work and good deeds,” said Senator Young. “In spite of his age, Henry shows little sign of slowing down and I can’t imagine he’ll change his philosophy any time soon. He still drives every day and his passion for working on engines and clocks was on full display when we talked.”
Mr. Lindquist was married to his late wife Ellen Haines for 67 years. The couple raised five children together, Jon, Nancy, Andy, Lou Ann, and Amy and today he is a loving grandfather of five and great-grandfather of eight.
After leaving high school, Mr. Lindquist worked in the oil fields for Messer Oil Corporation for nearly 30 years before serving as School Building, Grounds and Transportation Supervisor for the Bolivar Central School District until his retirement in June 1977. Among his notable achievements, Mr. Lindquist helped construct the Faith Bible Church in Little Genesee, which held its first service in December 1971.
“Henry is a remarkable man and I extend my best wishes to him and his family,” Senator Young said.
