Robert Keech has been an active member of three local departments
OLEAN - Senator Catharine Young (R,C,I-Olean) recently presented a New York State Senate Proclamation to Robert Keech of Hinsdale in honor of his more than 50 years of service to fire departments in Cattaraugus County.
Mr. Keech, who first started spending time at the Ischua Fire Department at the age of 12, officially began his career in the fire service on April 3, 1961. He went on to serve as an Assistant Chief with the Ischua Fire Department and proved himself as a skillful first-aid provider, steadfast pump operator and reliable responder who answered numerous calls. In the 1980s he joined the Lyndon Volunteer Fire Company, where he was again known for his reliability in response and his consistent effort to assist the department with fundraising activities. After moving in with his son in 2002 Robert joined the Hinsdale Fire Department, quickly becoming an active member of the department where he is still involved today.
“Robert is an incredible example of the dedicated men and women who make up our volunteer fire departments. Throughout his career Robert has demonstrated courage and sacrifice for the betterment of others. He has been steadfast in his service and the model first responder, always ready and willing to answer an alarm,” said Senator Young.
“Those who know Robert best are always quick to point out his special dedication, his strong desire to help others, and the tireless sense of commitment he has shown throughout his career. I am honored to call Robert a friend and would like to offer a sincere debt of gratitude on behalf of area residents,” concluded Senator Young.
