Senator Young Partners with Time Warner Cable, Sunnking, and Fredonia to Host "Spring Cleaning" E-recycling Event

Residents can dispose of old, unwanted electronics, free of charge

OLEAN – Senator Catharine Young (R,C,I–Olean) announced today that she will be partnering with e-recycler Sunnking, Time Warner Cable, and the State University of New York at Fredonia’s Sustainability Committee to offer a free e-recycling event for area residents. The event will take place on Saturday, April 18, from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Fredonia’s Services Complex, located on Ring Road on the Fredonia campus.

“With technology constantly evolving, many of us have old or broken electronics that we no longer use. Ensuring electronic devices are disposed of properly and in a safe manner should be an important part of everyone’s spring cleaning. This event will provide community members with an environmentally-friendly way to recycle their unwanted electronics,” said Senator Young.

“I sponsored a similar e-recycling event last year and it was incredibly successful. I strongly encourage area residents take advantage of this year’s event so we can continue to keep our area landfills free of hazardous e-waste,” Senator Young said.

Residents are encouraged to enter campus from the main entrance at 280 Central Avenue in the Village of Fredonia, to help ensure the smoothest flow of traffic. Then, take the first right at Ring Road, and follow that around to the Park and Ride lot adjacent to the Services Complex. Volunteers will be on-hand to provide the unloading of all recycled materials, as well as with traffic direction.

Acceptable items include, but are not limited to, laptop and desktop computers, televisions and monitors, printers, scanners, copiers, microwaves, telephones, and other small electronics and appliances.
