October 15, 2015
Ossining, NY - (10/15/15) – Senator David Carlucci (D- Rockland/Westchester) in partnership with Assemblywoman Sandy Galef, held their annual Westchester Senior Fair in Ossining today. Joining Senator Carlucci to welcome attendees to the Senior Fair was United States Congresswoman Nita Lowey and representatives from Phelps Memorial Hospital.
This event allowed seniors the opportunity to discover services and programs available to them right here in Westchester County and speak with representatives from various health, legal and housing services. Additionally, guest speakers from a wide variety of professions presented on topics that are relevant to seniors, such as Medicaid and Medicare, long term care options, memoir writing and even recreational yoga.
“Knowledge is power, and by keeping our seniors informed we are giving them the tools they need to lead healthy, comfortable and active lives,” said Senator Carlucci. “Today’s senior fair gave them the opportunity to do just that. I look forward to continuing to partner with my colleague Assemblywoman Galef to hold another senior fair next year, and I would like to thank Congresswoman Lowey, Phelps Memorial Hospital, the staff of the Joseph G. Caputo Community Center and everyone who attended the fair.”
“Today was a wonderful opportunity for seniors in our area to learn more about the services and resources we have here for healthcare, continuing education, activities, long term care and assisted living options, and even to get a free flu shot through Phelps Hospital Center,” said Assemblywoman Galef. “I thank Senator Carlucci and his team for organizing such a rich and mind-expanding event today in Ossining, and to the vendors, and all those who came out to enjoy it.”
“I’m delighted to join Senator Carlucci’s second annual Westchester Seniors Fair to discuss the importance of protecting and strengthening Medicare and Social Security benefits that seniors have earned through a lifetime of hard work,” said Congresswoman Lowey. “As Ranking Member on the House Appropriations Committee, I will continue working to make it easier for Americans and residents throughout the Lower Hudson Valley to enjoy a secure retirement.”
