Senator David Carlucci (D – Rockland/Westchester) and Nyack Hospital have announced state funding for the Nyack Hospital Prenatal Center.
The Prenatal Center (PNC) at Nyack Hospital offers comprehensive prenatal and postpartum care to expectant women and teens, the majority of whom are Medicaid recipients and live below the poverty level. Recognized as a New York State Medicaid Prenatal Program, the demographics of the PNC patient population include more than 10,000 clients from Rockland County with 45% residing in Spring Valley, 20% in Haverstraw, 15% in Nyack, 15% in Suffern and 5% from the surrounding communities. The Center’s multi-lingual staff is highly trained and prepared to provide various services that ensure the best care and outcomes for patients. Available services at the Center include top-notch medical care provided by physicians, midwives, clinical nurses and social workers and financial advising, nutritional counseling and translation services are also available.
The $100,000 secured by Senator Carlucci will go towards the renovation of PNC’s patient waiting room to accommodate a patient education component.
“I am happy to partner with Nyack Hospital to secure state funds for their Prenatal Center,” said Senator David Carlucci. “This comprehensive prenatal and postpartum program provides care to expectant women throughout Rockland County. I would like to thank Dr. Mark Geller and all of the hard working, dedicated and professional doctors, nurses and support staff at Nyack Hospital for all they do to keep our community healthy.”
“The Prenatal Center at Nyack Hospital provides quality, cost-effective and culturally sensitive prenatal and postpartum care to at-risk residents of Rockland County,” said Mark Geller, MD, President & CEO at Nyack Hospital. “The funds will be used to renovate the patient waiting area and establish an educational component that will help patients learn how to keep themselves and their families healthy, before and after delivery. We are extremely grateful to Senator Carlucci for his help in securing this grant for the Prenatal Center at Nyack Hospital.”
