Senator David Carlucci (D – Rockland/Westchester) Camp Venture, and Just-A-Buck will be hosted a grand opening of their new store on July 13th at the Route 202 Shopping Center in Garnerville, NY.
Through a New York State grant secured by Senator Carlucci, Just-A-Buck will employ people with disabilities to ring up and assist customers, stock shelves, and perform other duties that add to the exceptional service one receives when they shop at Just-A-Buck.
“By securing funding for this important program, we are creating self sustaining employment for people with disabilities in Rockland County," said Senator David Carlucci. “This exciting partnership gives our friends, neighbors and family members with disabilities the opportunity to lead more independent lives, while working towards future financial security. I would like to congratulate Camp Venture and Just-A-Buck for their new partnership, and I look forward to working with them in the future.”
“Just-A-Buck understands retail, but also the potential of the people we serve,” said Dan Lukens, Camp Venture’s Executive Director. “Local politicians talk about employment for people with disabilities, but Senator Carlucci is a standout in that he delivers on new ideas and effective policy.”
“Just-A-Buck strongly supports employing people with disabilities in the community and will continue to strive to create additional opportunities to people not with disabilities, but rather with abilities,” said Rochelle Bakst, Vice-President of Just-A-Buck Stores.
"We needed a way to move on from our sheltered workshop and to help our participants get into community jobs,” said Lisa Nolte, Camp Venture’s Chief Financial Officer. “Just-A-Buck not only offered the kind of business enterprise we needed, they also shared our sense of mission and that made them the people we wanted to work with.”
