Senator George Amedore today announced that his legislation (S.4800) to allow farm-based distilleries to sell gift merchandise has been signed into law by Governor Cuomo.
Under New York State law, there are four farm-based licenses: cideries, wineries, breweries, and distilleries, with distilleries being the only license that was not explicitly allowed to sell gift merchandise on premises.
“New York’s beverage industry continues to grow, and we want to do everything possible to encourage further expansion,” said Senator George Amedore. “Under this new law, farm distilleries will be given the same opportunities that farm breweries, cideries, and wineries currently have to increase their revenue, encourage repeat customers, and improve their business by selling gift items.”
The new law goes into effect immediately.
