In honor of Women’s History Month, Senator Amedore is inviting local residents to nominate friends, coworkers and neighborhood leaders whose outstanding work on behalf of our communities makes them deserving of special recognition by the State Senate as a New York "Woman of Distinction."
One honoree from the 46th district will be recognized at a May 5th ceremony in Albany, along with honorees from throughout the rest of the state. A special exhibit featuring the honorees will be on display in the Legislative Office Building for the event.
“There are so many extraordinary women throughout the 46th Senate district who do so much to improve the lives of those around them, and to make our communities a better place to live,” said Senator Amedore. “This annual event is an opportunity to recognize their outstanding contributions, and extend our thanks for all they do for us.”
Previous honorees at the annual event have included leading women from various industries, including business women, leaders in academics and civic arenas, those who have performed heroic acts, or those who have persevered and demonstrated personal excellence in the face of adversity.
The "Woman of Distinction" program was created as part of the Senate's celebration of Women's History Month. In addition to recognizing present-day women, the Senate will host a display that honors other distinguished women from New York's past, from leaders of the 19th Century suffragist movement to pioneers in education, science and the arts.
To submit a nominee, please fill out the attached nomination form. Nominations must be received no later than April 1, 2015.
