Statement From Senator George Amedore

Today’s announcement that New York State has been awarded $8.1 million in federal funds to help combat the heroin epidemic is terrific news.

As Chairman of the Senate Standing Committee on Alcoholism and Drug Abuse and Co-Chair of the Senate Task Force on Heroin and Opioid Addiction, one of my top priorities is taking steps to eliminate the heroin epidemic that continues to grow and effect communities throughout New York.

These federal funds, combined with state resources, will help to increase education and prevention and make sure treatment and recovery options are available to those who need them most.
