Statement From Senator George Amedore
George A. Amedore, Jr.
January 18, 2015
This morning, Governor Cuomo announced a proposal to cut the tax rate for small business who file under the corporate franchise tax, and the creation of NY Business Express to help navigate the onerous red tape that stifles economic growth.
While I am encouraged by this first step, if we truly want to make New York State more competitive, we need to do more to ease the tax burden on all small businesses, including those who file under the PIT. And, in order to improve the business climate, tax relief needs to go hand-in-hand with a reduction and overhaul of the more than 750,000 over-reaching regulations and fees that discourage the growth and success of the private sector.
I look forward to working with the Governor and my colleagues in the Legislature on solutions that will give all businesses in New York the ability to thrive, generate revenue and help repair our struggling Upstate economy.
