STATE SENATOR GUSTAVO RIVERA AND ASSEMBLYMEMBER MICHAEL BLAKE TO ATTEND POLICY LEADERS MEETING AT THE WHITE HOUSE
November 12, 2015
(Bronx, NY)- On Friday, State Senator Gustavo Rivera and Assemblymember Michael Blake will join a group of state and local elected policy leaders from across the country to meet with President Barack Obama's Senior Administration Officials at the White House to discuss middle-class economics, healthcare access, environmental protections, and equality and social justice.
"I am very proud to have the opportunity to represent The Bronx as we join policy leaders from across the country to discuss ways in which all levels of government can work together to implement thoughtful legislation and initiatives that will work to uplift the communities we so proudly represent," said State Senator Gustavo Rivera. "I'm grateful to my colleague and friend Assemblymember Michael Blake for extending this unique invitation and President Obama for his leadership in working to strengthen middle and lower income families in The Bronx and across the country."
"It is always a honor to be asked by President Obama and the administration to come to The White House to represent the people of The Bronx to learn how we further collaborate and support our residents. This opportunity follows the tremendous year of President Obama and the administration supporting The Bronx from the My Brother's Keeper Alliance announcement at Lehman College in May to the Connect HOME announcement to help provide wireless to Bronx residents in September. We are #BuildingABetterBronx thanks to President Obama and will continue to pass legislation and implement initiatives on the local level focused on middle class economics, expanding health care access, protecting the environment, promoting equality and social justice" said Assemblymember Michael Blake.
These meetings continue with President Obama and his administration's tradition in focusing on state and local actions to help American middle and lower income families and to promote the idea that the United States is a stronger country when all Americans get a fair shot and play by the same set of rules.
