State Senator Hugh T. Farley (R, C, I – Schenectady) is pleased to report the State Assembly has followed the Senate’s actions of passing the women’s equality pay legislation this week.
Senator Farley noted that he and his colleagues in the Senate made the Women’s Equality Agenda, including equal pay for equal work, a top priority for the 2015 Legislation Session and it was the first piece of business taken up by the full Senate last January.
It’s now been 105 days since the Senate chamber passed equal pay and other legislation important to women. After all that time, Senator Farley said the Senate is pleased that the Assembly has finally passed the bill.
Senator Farley now urges the Assembly to follow the Senate once again and pass legislation approved on numerous occasions in the Senate that would also prohibit sexual harassment in the workplace, remove barriers to remedying discrimination, prohibit family status discrimination, prevent housing discrimination for the victims of domestic violence, allow for electronic filing for orders of protection and end pregnancy discrimination.
