Senator Farley Announces Local Libraries Awarded Construction Aid

State Senator Hugh T. Farley (R, C, I – Schenectady) is pleased to announce eight libraries in his 49th Senatorial District were recently awarded public library construction funds that will allow them to improve their facilities.
“As the Chair of the Senate Select Committee on Libraries, I am pleased to see these State funds assisting our local libraries in improving the buildings that house vital information and allow organizations to keep up with the demands of their users.”
Senator Farley noted the construction grants are part of an extremely competitive process and are funded through construction moneys which are appropriated annually in the State budget. In addition, Senator Farley was able to secure some special grants for every public library in his district.
The following libraries were awarded aid through the 2014-2015 Public Library Construction Grant Program:
* Gloversville Public Library, Fulton County, won $150,356 for its elevator project and to increase access for patrons with disabilities. Funding can also go towards the outdoor security cameras for increased safety.
* Cornelius Vanderbilt Whitney Long Lake Public Library, Hamilton County, won $14,925 to help equip the library with energy efficient air conditioning and an emergency generator.
* Town of Inlet Public Library, Hamilton County, won $29,831 for interior renovations such as storage space, bathroom renovations, and electrical renovations for computers.
* Town of Lake Pleasant Public Library, Hamilton County, won $131,250 for HVAC and electrical renovations as well as for plumbing and siding concerns.
* Dolgeville-Manheim Public Library, Herkimer County, won $16,136 for roof, insulation and interior construction.
* Galway Public Library, Saratoga County, won $29,988 for preliminary site work for a new library building project.
* Town of Ballston Community Library, Saratoga County, won $132,364 for renovations of interior spaces that include a creation of new circulation and patron service areas.
* Schenectady County Public Library (Phyllis Bornt Branch), Schenectady County, won $63,598 for sprinklers, storm drainage, asphalt paving and curb and sidewalk projects.
