Senator Martins Appointed Chairman of Senate’s Labor Committee

     Senator Jack M. Martins (R-7th Senate District) announced that he has been appointed Chairman of the Senate’s Labor Committee. 

     The Senate Committee on Labor addresses issues arising under Employers’ Liability Law, Labor Law, and Workers’ Compensation Law. Senator Martins was appointed Chairman by Senate Majority Leader Dean G. Skelos. 

     “New Yorkers deserve to have every chance to get a good job and have the opportunity to succeed. Continuing to improve our economy, create jobs, and invest in economic development are the best ways to give residents the opportunities they want and deserve. I look forward to serving in this new role and working together with my colleagues to achieve those goals,” said Senator Martins. 

     “As someone who grew up in a blue collar household and recognizes the importance of working hard and earning a decent paycheck, Senator Martins is uniquely qualified to serve as Chairman of the Senate's Standing Committee on Labor. As the Majority Leader and a fellow Long Island resident, I look forward to working with Senator Martins on the critical issues facing the labor community in our region and across the state,” said Senator Skelos. 

     In addition to serving as Chairman of the Labor Committee, Senator Martins was also appointed to serve on the following committees: Finance; Transportation; Health; Insurance; Banks; Civil Service & Pensions; Corporations, Authorities, and Commissions; and Social Services.
