Senator Jack M. Martins (R-7th Senate District) recently visited Carle Place High School to congratulate the Girls Varsity Basketball Team on winning the 2015 Long Island Championship.
The team captured the Long Island Championship with a 26-32 come from behind win against Hampton Bays High School. This was the team’s first Long Island title since 1992.
Senator Martins presented the team with copies of a legislative resolution he sponsored, which was passed by the Senate, honoring their accomplishment. With passage of the resolution, their achievement will forever be part of the New York State Senate’s official record.
“The Carle Place Girls Varsity Basketball Team had its most successful season in over 20 years and attained a place among Long Island’s most elite high school teams. Through teamwork, drive, and sheer hard work, they’ve earned the title ‘Long Island Champions.’ Congratulations to the team on a great season,” said Senator Martins.
