Senator Martins Helps Honor Former Roslyn Harbor Resident and Nobel Laureate Gabriela Mistral

Senator Jack M. Martins (R-7th Senate District) recently helped dedicate a plaque at the Roslyn Library in memory of former Roslyn Harbor resident Gabriela Mistral.
Gabriela Mistral was a renowned poet, diplomat, and teacher who was a champion for civil rights and protecting the disenfranchised. She was the first ever Latin American to win the Nobel Prize in Literature. Originally born in Chile, she came to Roslyn Harbor in 1953, making her home on Motts Cove Road. She spent the final years of her life in Roslyn Harbor, passing away in 1957 at the age of 67.
