Senator Jack M. Martins (R-7th Senate District) recently visited Manhasset High School to congratulate the Manhasset High School Marching Band on winning the 2014 New York State Championship.

Senator Martins presented the band with copies of a legislative resolution he sponsored, which was passed by the Senate, honoring their accomplishment. With passage of the resolution, the band’s achievement will forever be part of the New York State Senate’s official record.

With its 2014 field show featuring musical selections from Disney’s “Fantasmic,” the band captured the top honor with a first place finish at the New York State Marching Band Championship this past October. This was the band’s sixth consecutive state championship in the USBands competition circuit.

“Winning just one championship takes hard work, dedication, and talent. Winning six in a row requires maintaining a level of excellence that few can achieve. Congratulations to the staff, parents, and most importantly the students who have helped build Manhasset’s Marching Band program into a dynasty,” said Senator Martins.
