Senator Jack M. Martins (R-7th Senate District) announced that he secured state funding for the Village of Lake Success Police Department to enhance its crime control and prevention programs.

The Department will use the $10,000 in state funding to purchase new technology, which would include revamping computers in their patrol cars and their license plate readers. Both devices will help aid in the detection of stolen vehicles, unlicensed drivers, and drivers who have warrants out for their arrest.

“This new technology is all about improving safety for the officers, the other drivers, and the community as a whole. Enhancing the Department’s ability to track down stolen vehicles, apprehend fugitives, and take unlicensed drivers off the road will help keep both the community and their officers safe,” said Senator Martins.

“Due to the geographical location of Lake Success, and the major thoroughfares that run through it, updates in law enforcement technology are vital. The funding secured by Senator Martins will assist us in keeping Lake Success one of the safest communities on Long Island,” said Lake Success Police Department Chief Joseph Gardella.

“We are most appreciative of the assistance that Senator Martins has secured for our Police Department. His attention to the needs of the Great Neck peninsula and in this case the needs of the Village of Lake Success, enables our community to better serve our residents. We are thankful for the beneficial effect of his work on our behalf,” said Lake Success Mayor Ron Cooper.
