“Passing legislation to ensure women receive equal pay for equal work, as well as other important protections for women, was one of the first actions taken by the Senate this year. 105 days later, the Assembly has decided to join us in approving the pay equity legislation. As the father of four daughters and a cosponsor of these bills, I'm pleased they have finally done so.
The Assembly should continue to join us in moving these measures forward. Just as the Senate has done on multiple occasions, the Assembly should individually pass the other measures on which we agree immediately, including stronger protections for domestic violence victims and additional safeguards from discrimination and harassment. Women have waited long enough for these measures to be enacted; they shouldn't have to wait another day longer for the results they deserve.”
