ONEONTA, 08/04/15 -- State Senator James L. Seward (R/C/I – Oneonta) recently presented the Oneonta Family YMCA with a New York State Legislative Resolution in honor of the YMCA’s 50th anniversary in its present location.
“YMCAs are vital components of every community where they exist and that cannot be more true than in Oneonta where the Ford Avenue location has been going strong for fifty years,” said Senator Seward. “The individuals who work and volunteer at the YMCA are dedicated to helping families and individuals reach their fullest potential in terms of spirit, mind and body.”
Senator Seward presented the resolution to Oneonta Family YMCA officials during the Safety Around Water (SAW) program, a free program which will teach over 100 children water safety and swimming skills.
“The Safety Around Water (SAW) program is just another example of the positive role the YMCA plays in the lives of all and young people in particular in Oneonta,” added Senator Seward.
Senate resolution 2814 was adopted on June 11, 2015 and reads in part:
