ALBANY, 04/22/15 -- State Senator James L. Seward (R/C/I – Oneonta) today announced senate passage of a comprehensive package of legislation to create new protections for natural resources, promote energy conservation, help create green jobs, and increase tourism through enhanced recreational opportunities.
“One of the top reasons many people live and move to our state is because of our natural beauty,” said Senator Seward. “We need to protect our resources and also find new ways to promote their magnificence. This senate package strikes a balance and will keep our resources safe, create green jobs, and enhance everyone’s ability to enjoy our great natural assets.
“I am particularly pleased that several of the measures focus on the important role our sportsmen play in ensuring the future viability and vitality of our environment. They are true stewards of our forests and waterways and I have consistently worked to make sure their rights are protected. The bills in this package would help reduce license fees for volunteer firemen and veterans, protect personal information, and promote outdoor education in our schools – all solid steps,” Seward concluded.
