Marine Corp Vet and State Senator James Sanders Jr. Hosts Veteran's Day Luncheon
November 12, 2015
State Senator and Marine Corps veteran James Sanders Jr. (D-Rochdale Village), today hosted a Veteran's Day Luncheon at Applebee's in Jamaica for more than 40 veterans, most from the St. Albans VA's domiciliary, and others from the Rosedale American Legion. Guests included Senator Sanders' 94-year-old veteran father, and Sgt. Lee Blackmon, commander of the Rosedale American Legion.
"As a proud Marine Corps veteran, it is a pleasure and an honor to share this Veteran's Day with my fellow service members - men and women who have sacrificed so much to protect our freedom," Senator Sanders said. "They can count on my continued support, not just on Veteran's Day, but every day."
The event was not only an opportunity to break bread with fellow service members, but a chance to hear their suggestions and concerns. Sanders' staffers were on hand to document issues from those who needed help and will follow up with further assistance.
We would like to thank Applebee's for their support and cooperation in helping us host this event, and applaud their policy of serving free entrees to service members on Veteran's Day.
