Hundreds of Bronx Students Enter Local “Eat Well, Play Well” Themed Competition
BRONX, NY - State Senator Jeff Klein (D-Bronx/Westchester), together with the Throggs Neck Community Action Partnership (TNCAP), today hosted their 17th annual poster contest – selecting twenty Bronx students as this year’s award winners in the “Eat Well, Play Well” themed competition.
“Staying active and eating well are critically important for our youngsters. It’s never too early to promote a healthy lifestyle and this year’s poster contest does just that – increasing awareness of fun fitness activities, encouraging smart food choices and boosting student engagement,” said Senator Jeff Klein. “Congratulations to all the great students who entered this year’s contest and special recognition to our top twenty award winners!”
Hundreds of local students participated in the contest, with all entries prominently displayed on the TNCAP Facebook page. Community members were encouraged to vote via social media, with the top submission receiving more than 200 votes. Senator Klein presented certificates of achievement to the finalists and all of the top twenty award winners received gift cards to Target donated by the 45th Precinct Community Council.
"Making sure our kids are healthy, happy and safe means providing them with the tools they need to be successful from an early age. This poster contest is not only a fun activity for our students, but an educational exercise that promotes long-term health and wellness," said Joanne Timmins of the Throggs Neck Community Action Partnership. "Thanks to Senator Klein for his ongoing support of TNCAP and his commitment to improving health outcomes in the Bronx for our students, families and communities."
