Senator Jeff Klein Hosts Bronx h.I.r.e. Career Building Night

Bronx networking event prepares job seekers of all ages for the changing workplace environment

BRONX, NY – State Senator Jeff Klein (D-Bronx/Westchester), in partnership with the Bronx Chamber of Commerce, hosted the Bronx H.I.R.E. (Help Identify Real Employment) Career Building Night on Wednesday, February 18th at the Hutchinson Metro Center. The two-part event focused on certificate programs and upcoming opportunities in childcare, healthcare and the security industry. Job candidates also took part in a resume and interview training workshop before engaging in real time networking activities.

Senator Klein said: β€œThe Bronx consistently has one of the highest unemployment rates in the state and with this dynamic program, we are working hard to change that statistic. Bronx H.I.R.E. is a targeted, hands-on jobs program that invests in our people, our community and our businesses. This program works to ensure that all job seekers, especially those who have felt disconnected from the workforce, have the chance to find a good-paying job and the opportunity to hone their skills.”

Michelle Dolgow Cristofaro, H.I.R.E. Administrator and Bronx Chamber of Commerce Chief-of-Staff, said: "As a result of Sen. Klein's funding, we are able to offer job seekers a series of educational workshops on resume writing, interview preparation, networking tips and more. These learned skills, coupled with the many certifications Bronx H.I.R.E. offers, create the ideal employee. The Bronx Chamber of Commerce thanks Senator Klein for investing in the Bronx workforce."

Senator Klein provided the networking workshop at no cost to participants. The Bronx H.I.R.E. program works with businesses in the community – both big and small - to identify employment opportunities and connect local residents to real jobs.
