(Albany, NY – June 3, 2015) Senator Hamilton joined colleagues, housing advocates, and neighborhood residents in calling for stronger rent laws at a rally today in the Capitol. Senator Hamilton issued the following statement, “We can grow New York’s economy without displacing New Yorkers. We can have a vibrant economy without ignoring the people who keep the economy moving. It is my job as a State Senator to represent all of my constituents, and the ones who need the help the most are the ones who are losing their homes, day in and day out.”
Senator Hamilton continued, “In Central Brooklyn, I have been taking action, hosting housing forums, working with community groups to stop mistreatment of tenants, and connecting residents with resources and advice. We have a housing crisis. We are here today to deliver a clear message to Governor Cuomo: Stop the erosion of affordable housing. We can protect New Yorkers at risk of losing their homes. We MUST protect New Yorkers at risk of losing their homes.”
