Bonacic Is Pleased to Announce Repeal of 57 Burdensome Fees as Part of the 2015-2016 State Budget

(Middletown, NY)- State Senator John J. Bonacic (R/C/I-Mt. Hope) announced that the 2015-2016 State Budget includes the repeal of 57 onerous fees, which would save New York State $3 million annually.  These fees place an undue burden on Hudson Valley businesses and farms, and make it harder to remain profitable and competitive.

 “By removing these unnecessary and burdensome regulations, we are making it easier for businesses and farms to operate in New York State,” said Bonacic. “These fees were nothing more than harassment to those who choose to operate a business or a farm here. I’m glad that the Budget has provided some relief for the hardworking men and women of NY State.”

 Some of the repealed fees include:

·       Commercial Feed License Fee: A $100 fee collected from manufacturers on commercial feed;

·         Refrigerated Warehouse Fee: A $200 license fee collected from refrigerated warehouses every two years;

·         Food Salvage Fee: A $100 license fee collected from food salvage dealers every two years;

·         Interstate Authority Application Fee: A one-time $50 fee paid by new trucking companies, movers, ambulette providers and charter bus operators when applying for certificates or permits; and

·         Flood Control Permit Fee: A $25 regulatory fee that is levied upon the application of a permit to determine if the proposed activity will impair the operation of flood control works, or impede the maintenance thereof, including access for operation and maintenance.
