Last evening, Senator Bonacic participated in a press conference hosted by the Research and Recognition Project, a non-profit organization that has developed a non-invasive, neurological treatment for veterans suffering from post traumatic stress. The purpose of the press conference was to announce significant state funding for this organization, but to also continue to raise awareness on the issue of post traumatic stress affecting our returning veterans, as well as our police officers and fire fighters.
Sen's Bonacic, Larkin, and O’Mara led the fight to have $800,000 of funding for the Research and Recognition Project included in the 2015 State Budget. For 30 years, prior to the development of this breakthrough treatment, individuals suffering from post traumatic stress were treated with over abundance of medication and counseling, which most times did not result in a cure for the patient. The Research and Recognition Project, led by Dr. Frank Bourke, has developed treatment that does not require the patient to take any medication and the time it takes to complete the treatment is drastically shorter than traditional methods.
