(Middletown, NY)- Senator Bonacic joined Town of Rosendale Supervisor Jeanne Walsh, members of the Rosendale Town Board, and local community members at a ground breaking ceremony yesterday at the new Rosendale Pool, where he also delivered remarks. Three years ago it was determined by the Town that the pool had deteriorated so much that it could not be opened for the summer. The cost of fixing the pool was set at $1.5 million.
Through the New York Economic Development Program, Senator Bonacic was able to secure a $250,000 grant for the project. The Town of Rosendale came together as a community and was able to raise close to $50,000 through a myriad of fundraisers that went directly toward the rehab of the pool. The Town also received a $550,000 grant from the New York State Department of Parks and Recreation. The project is slated to take about a year to complete, and when finished, will return as a centerpiece for the community, and bring new economic vitality to the Town in the way of 25 new jobs.
