(Middletown, NY)-Senator Bonacic was pleased to attend the Ulster County Volunteer Firemen’s Association Convention this past Friday at the Kerhonkson Firehouse in Kerhonkson, NY, where two Ellenville firefighters were honored as firefighters of the year by the Association. Assistant Chief Steve Grundt and Firefighter Jeffrey North were recognized for heroic actions they displayed in responding to a structure fire on May 17, 2014 in Ellenville. Both men entered the building with another firefighter who ended up falling through the kitchen floor. Assistant Chief Grundt and Firefighter North were able to reach their fellow firefighter, pull him out of the hole and get him outside where it was determined he had no injuries.
Senator Bonacic spoke at the ceremony and commended both Assistant Chief Grundt and Firefighter North on their act of heroism.
