Senator Serrano Leads Sign-On Letter With Colleagues Urging the Governor & Legislative Leaders to Maintain Proposed Parks Funding
(Albany, NY)- Senator José M. Serrano, Ranking Member on the Senate Committee on Cultural Affairs, Tourism, Parks & Recreation, was joined by sixteen of his Senate colleagues in a sign-on letter to Governor Andrew Cuomo and legislative leaders, asking that the final budget enacts the Governor's proposed funding of $110 million for much needed capital and infrastructure improvements at state parks across New York.
"Our state parks provide tremendous recreational and educational opportunities for communities across New York State. They also provide jobs and serve as a critical economic engine for local economies, especially upstate. Unfortunately, many of our parks are in need of critical repairs and upgrades needed to handle the record-breaking number of visitors we've seen in recent years. This funding will ensure that our parks get the services they need to be functional and fully enjoyed by New Yorkers," said Senator Serrano.
Senator Serrano is an avid user and supporter of our state parks. He encourages all to take advantage of the wonderful natural beauty they provide, as well as the proven health benefits.
