Senator Serrano Joins Lincoln Medical Center in Encouraging the South Bronx to Sign Up for IDNYC
José M. Serrano
August 26, 2015
(Bronx, NY)- Senator Serrano applauded the Lincoln Medical Center and the Mayor's Office of Immigrant Affairs for encouraging residents of the South Bronx to register for an IDNYC at Lincoln Medical Center's enrollment center. Since opening in April 2015, more than 30,000 New York City residents have applied for an IDNYC at Lincoln's enrollment center, which is the largest and most active in the Bronx and the only hospital-based center in the city.
"I applaud this revolutionary program that allows all New Yorkers, regardless of immigration status, greater functionality in obtaining the services and programs they need. IDNYC provides countless benefits for communities who may otherwise experience difficulty obtaining a government-issued ID. It is important that we continue to push this initiative beyond Manhattan and towards the outer boroughs. As a staunch advocate for the protection of the rights of our immigrant community, I am proud to see that New York City is leading the way and providing a blueprint that hopefully the rest of the county will follow," said Senator Serrano.
