HOST CONCERT IN HONOR OF BIG BAND LEADER
Howard Beach, NY (July 28, 2015): Senator Joseph P. Addabbo Jr. is proud to announce that he has once again partnered with the law firm of Brady and Marshak to sponsor the annual Arnie Mig Memorial Big Band Concert.
This year’s show will mark the fifth year in a row that Addabbo has partnered with Brady and Marshak to host the concert in honor of the late Arnie Migliaccio, a musician who was celebrated for playing swing tunes from the Big Band era to audiences across Howard Beach for more than 20 years. Addabbo began co-hosting a memorial concert in 2010, featuring Frank Pedulla and the Music Staff Swing Orchestra, as a way of continuing the tradition that Arnie Mig established in the area.
“Tunes from the Big Band era are some of the most popular and beloved songs in history and are still listened to today by music lovers of all ages,” Addabbo said. “This community remembers how admired Arnie Mig was, as well as his music, and this memorial concert is a way for us to continue providing people with the music they love while also honoring a man who brought joy to so many people for more than two decades. The hundreds of people who attend this event each year in his memory are a true testament to the legacy he left on our community and how much he was loved by those who were reminded of a different time when they heard his music. It is my honor and pleasure to be able to once again, along with Brady and Marshak, bring this memorial concert to the people of Howard Beach.”
This year’s show will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, August 20, at St. Helen’s Parish Father Dooley Hall, located at 83-25 157th Ave. Admission to the concert is free.
