State Senator Joseph P. Addabbo, Jr. Statement on Get on Your Feet Loan Forgiveness Program as Proposed by Governor Cuomo

“The current reality leaves many of our state's post-graduate students in a state of limbo -- they may have a job, but are not earning enough to live in the real world. Some are then forced to either move back home, whether that be in or out of New York, or search for work and a life outside of the state. We want to invest in our students, literally, because as they evolve then so does our own local work force and economy. Keeping New York State students in New York benefits the students, the public and the economy, and can continue to make us the greatest state in the nation. That is why I support Governor Andrew Cuomo's Get on Your Feet Loan Forgiveness Program in an effort to assist with relieving individuals of their heavy burden of student loan debt. I look forward to working out the logistics with the State Legislature and finding an effective way to implement this initiative.”
