Senator Ken LaValle’s Statement on the Assembly’s Passage of Anti-human Trafficking Legislation

“I am pleased that the Assembly has passed the anti-human trafficking legislation that the Senate has approved for the last two years.  This is one of the bills in an important package of legislation that is crucial to protecting and empowering women.

It’s my hope that the Assembly follows suit with the eight other bills of the Senate Women’s Equality Agenda, which we approved on the first day of Senate session this year.

Now, we need the Assembly to show further leadership by passing the bills to: ensure pay equity, prohibit sexual harassment in the workplace, remove barriers to remedying discrimination, prohibit family status discrimination, strengthen orders of protection, allow for electronic filing for orders of protection and end pregnancy discrimination.”
