ALBANY, N.Y. – Senator Marc Panepinto released the following statement on the passage of several bills from the Women’s Equality Agenda:
“I am proud that in my first votes cast as a State Senator, I helped pass eight key pieces of legislation in the Women’s Equality Agenda. Ranging from equal pay for equal work to ending discrimination and sexual harassment against women in all workplaces, these bills would help all New Yorkers, regardless of gender, secure the rights and protections they deserve. Unfortunately, these eight important bills stand little chance of becoming law because Senate Republicans continue to refuse to pass the part of the Women's Equality Act that codifies a woman's right to choose in New York State. We need to pass the entire Women's Equality Act immediately and ensure women in our state are treated equally under law."
*Senator Panepinto voted to pass the following pieces of legislation in the Women’s Equality Agenda:
- ENSURING EQUAL PAY (S.1)
- PROHIBITING SEXUAL HARASSMENT (S.2)
- REMOVING BARRIERS TO REMEDYING DISCRIMINATION (S.3)
- STOPPING DISCRIMINATION BASED ON FAMILY STATUS (S.4)
- PREVENTING HOUSING DISCRIMINATION AGAINST DOMESTIC VIOLENCE VICTIMS (S.5)
- ALLOWING ELECTRONIC FILING FOR ORDERS OF PROTECTION (S.6)
- THE TRAFFICKING VICTIMS PROTECTION AND JUSTICE ACT (S.7)
- ENDING PREGNANCY DISCRIMINATION IN THE WORKPLACE (S.8)

Senator Panepinto represents the 60th Senate District, which includes parts of the City of Buffalo as well as communities in both the Northtowns and the Southtowns of Western New York.
